Other accessories such as jewelry and neckties can be a great way to create an accent that will appear beautifully in your headshot. Try wearing red jewelry to complement a yellow dress or a blue necktie over a white shirt. In both cases, a timeless headshot will be best served absent of all jewelry.

Anything that takes the focus off you works against you, so keep it simple. If you're shooting with us, we can't wait to meet you! Think of things like excessive skin smoothing, facial and body slimming, and hair thickening as dishonest portrayals of yourself. The front door at the southwest corner of 33rd and Walnut is open during business hours. Feel free to call when you arrive if need help finding your way into the building or carrying your clothes. If your session is taking place outside of business hours (Weekdays 9am-5pm) you will need to call your photographer to come let you in the building. Everything you need to know, do and bring to have the best possible headshot session experience. Bring your personality to the shoot, and enjoy it!

Jewel tones usually look great on everyone as does black and grey. Pastels and lighter colors tend to wash out but we certainly have shot many great headshots with light colors so if you love it, bring it. Don't be seasonal; everything from t-shirts, tank tops to sweaters and light jackets can work.

The absolute most important thing to do to prepare for your headshot photo shoot is to know your "type" and know what roles you can believably portray as an actor. When you understand your "type" you can plan on what you will wear to your photo shoot. You want to show who you truly are through your photos, and wearing clothing that is appropriate and in line with your "type" is important.

But it’s either in or out — it can’t be photoshopped. Fitted clothing, as opposed to flowy and blousy items, is most flattering on camera. I create a flattering look with posing and negative space (i.e. gaps between your torso and arms). If the garment doesn’t show corporate headshot photographer Boston any space, you’ll appear heavier on camera. If you can answer these questions, you’ll be in great shape. Hiring a great photographer is of course important, but these questions will help guide the photographer in making the best image of you for right the purpose.

If you prefer to hire a professional hair stylist and makeup artist, allot time before your session to schedule your hair and makeup appointments. Proper fit is key when it comes to dress shirts and jackets. Make sure your shirt collar is properly sized, especially if you’re wearing a tie. Dig out the collar stays, and stick with a V-neck undershirt, in case we do open-collar shots. A 10-year-old suit will instantly date the image.
